About us |
Following a 5 year clearance (removing brambles, clearing paths) by a team of volunteers the group aim to restore the Ramsey Abbey Walled Kitchen Garden located in the grounds of Abbey College, Ramsey to its pre World War 1 form. A new access route will be established leading from the adjacent Rural Museum. Restored features will include an apple tunnel supporting traditional local apple varieties and an iron gate.
The restored garden will be an educational resource for the school and other community groups. In liaison with the Rural Museum, research will be undertaken into the development of horticulture in Cambridgeshire. The photo below shows the walled garden in 1970.
